Please check the fields highlighted in red. Yes, that's correct. When you buy something at Good Will it does not come to you in brand new condition although you seem to think it should. Record levels on cassette need to be watched and done at 0 dB point not above.
The recording at above 0 dB level show that the person recording has no understanding of the cassette format. The tape is moving slow and can not take 15 IPS reel to reel levels. The tape you are using might also be a problem. That old clear shell stuff is pretty terrible stuff and why I have complained about it. It is garbage Korean tape. It has low record level abilities. Maybe this is the issue?
I don't think the WR is chinese junk. The buttons are small. But the efficiency of this deck is quite high. I will keep it at the V being junk. I will remember. The V has for long be out of running. But that doesn't make a difference. He used to be awesome. So, I bought him as not serviced or what is not true either. Thanks for reacting. There are 2 preset buttons at the right of the Master Rec Level.
I opened these up at max. Result at Master 6 level was super now. I know where to look now. What these presets are. No junk Hi and Welcome. A proper tape path demag wouldn't hurt, but shouldn't be the cause of your level issue. I have found that the only deficient part in the V was the cam motor. This motor uses a nylon bearing in the rear of the motor and when it breaks the motor still works some but it is very noisy. I have put cam motors in with better brass bearings front and back that are an upgrade.
You only need this motor when the old one breaks down. So far I have only had to do one motor like that. The V was a top of line unit that year but that also was when black Plastic Crap was in full swing. Later on the transports were made less and the face plates made with fancier lettering or gold. This does not make the deck better but just put a hat and earrings on a pig.
On the WR all you look at is the face and a bunch of buttons which misleads you to think the insides are good but any deck that need the flywheel to help move the mechanism is still made of chinese junk and that will one day break down with no hope of finding another gear. I don'y even work on dual cassette decks so good luck finding a repair guy. It's another Pig in disguise. I managed to make the Teac V fly againm on a myrryad amp. I calibrated the volumes using the master fader and preset buttons, 1 per channel.
The manual was clear, use both together to get an apprpriate volume. As for the wrr, the a-r is no gimme. So is the dual casette. I do not know in and outs but if it follows the quality if its driving amp, it surely is far from chunk. And there is many chunk in high ends too you know. But I have 5 others to choose from And else i go back to my stock of 35 cd players A store which isn't a store Pacific Stereo.
Line levels are all the same. If you have one deck that makes a great recording and another that is grossly different to the downside with the same connections, doing the same thing, then something is wrong with the deck. |Teac v 970x||I don't think the WR is chinese junk. You are not working with a good V if it does not beat the dual cassette or tower systems which are chinese junk.
